Shiva Sutra (Sutras): The 77 Aphorisms of Kashmir Shaivism: A Clear Guide to Consciousness, Self-Recognition, and Non-Dual Awareness (THE TRIKA EDITION: ... Advanced Texts of Kashmir Shaivism Book 6)

ŚIVA SŪTRA — 77 Aphorisms of Kashmir Shaivism is an invitation to encounter one of the most profound revelations of the Trika tradition—not merely as ancient philosophy, but as a living path of recognition. At its heart are the seventy-seven aphorisms attributed to श्री Vasugupta , beginning with the radical declaration “ Caitanyam Ātmā — Consciousness is the Self” and unfolding through the nature of Śiva and Śakti , Spanda , the human experience of limitation, bondage and the three malas, Pratyabhijñā or recognition of the Self, the three Upāyas, states of consciousness, practice, liberation, and the final integration of the path. Rather than turning each aphorism into an isolated chapter, this book first establishes the philosophical vision of Kashmir Shaivism and the Trika, teaches you how to approach and contemplate a sūtra, and then presents all 77 sūtras together in a thematic compendium, with the Sanskrit original, transliteration, translation, and detailed explanation of their meaning and deeper connections. For the newcomer, it offers a doorway into Kashmir Shaivism; for the serious student, a structured companion for studying the Śiva Sūtras; and for the seeker, an invitation to move beyond intellectual knowledge toward direct recognition. These aphorisms do not simply ask “What is reality?”—they turn the question toward the one who is asking it, pointing again and again toward the recognition that consciousness is the Self, the Self is Śiva, and the world itself can be encountered as the living expression of that consciousness. The rock has turned. The 77 sūtras have been revealed. Now the question is: are you ready to read them?
