Runes of the Hollow Library: A Spicy Dark Academia Age Gap Romantasy (The Ashbourne Runes Book 1)

Laurel Voss came to Ashbourne University for dead languages, not living magic.

She’s a scholarship girl with ink on her fingers and a strict promise to her parents: real subjects only . No dueling circles, no dangerous spellcraft, and definitely no getting attached to anyone with power over her future.

Then she takes an archives job beneath the gothic library and finds a thin, nameless book that hums in her hands.

To everyone else, its pages are blank.

To Laurel, the runes blur into meaning—whispers of foundations that remember, “anchors” made of flesh and will, and a hungry presence in the stone under Ashbourne that has been waiting for the right reader. The more she translates, the stranger the campus feels: lights flicker when she’s angry, books vanish as if they were never shelved, and one outspoken classmate is edited out of existence.

The only person who takes her seriously is Professor Graham Ellis, the infamous philology lecturer with ink-stained hands, a ruined past, and far too much interest in the script only she can see. His attention is equal parts challenge, temptation, and warning—because whatever lives under Ashbourne has marked him once before.

When the wards finally scream and the ruin under the university reaches for her friends, Laurel’s strange gift stops being an academic obsession. To keep them alive, she’ll have to let the Hollow write on her bones, bind herself to the campus that’s trying to eat it, and trust a man she should never touch with the power to break her in more ways than one.

The Ashbourne Runes – Book One is a spicy dark academia age-gap romantasy with a haunted gothic university, cursed library, secret societies, a forbidden professor-student romance, a morally gray mentor, living runes, obsessive and unhinged tension, and on-page steam in a new adult college setting.
